BLT operates a joint Lost and Found service with Swiss Federal Railways. Simply let us know what you think is missing. Every day we cross-check what has been handed in with reports from our passengers of what they have lost. If you report a lost item, after four and ten days we will send you a text, email or letter to let you know if we’ve found it.
You can report something lost in one of two ways:
- Online, or
- personally at the BLT shop in the Heuwaage, for which there is a charge of CHF 5.00
If your lost item has been found, we will alert you via sms, email or letter exactly how and when you can pick it up. For at least seven days, BLT keeps found items at the BLT office in Heuwaage, Basel. After this period, found items are handed over to the SBB. This means that even if a passenger has chosen a lost item to be held at the BLT shop in the Heuwaage, but is unable to pick it up within seven days, the item will be safely stored at the SBB main station in Basel.
Income generated from fees charged to re-unite lost items with their owners are used to defray systems and logistics costs.
