You can get a single ticket for a one-way trip by any one of six ways: validated tickets at roadside/tramside vending machines, with the «Tickets» app, at BLT sales outlets, at the BVB customer centre, from drivers of overland buses and at SBB counters. Children from 6 to 16 and half-fare subscribers are charged a reduced price for single tickets. The nationwide «Generalabonnement» (GA) is valid throughout the entire BLT network. A single ticket entitles is all you need to travel one way from a start point to your destination within the stated time period. This validity period is printed on the ticket.

Tickets are valid for 6 journeys, and are priced with a 10% discount vis-à-vis the cost of single tickets. All prices are in CHF and include VAT.
Day tickets can be bought at BLT sales outlets, with the «Tickets» app, at the BVB customer centre, at kiosk shops and SBB sales counters. Day tickets, which are purchased in advance, must be validated by stamping at a ticket machine before the first journey. Day tickets can also be validated at ticket vending machines.

Children up to 5 years of age who are accompanied by a ticket holder (max. 8 children per accompanying person) can travel free.
Passengers travelling without a valid ticket are subject to a charge of CHF 100. This charge is increased in the case of repeat violations (in accordance with Rule 651.0 of the Verbundtarif Nordwestschweiz).
Transferrable monthly and annual season tickets cannot be replaced. In the event of loss, a new ticket will need to be bought. Lost or mislaid personal, non-transferable monthly and yearly tickets can be replaced on payment of a CHF 20 fee.

For parties of schoolchildren and other groups of 10 or more, the TNW offers reduced rates. Group tickets can be obtained at the larger sales outlets/stations as well as at many TNW automatic ticket machines.
The transport of dogs is possible on payment of a reduced rate ticket. Small dogs with a shoulder height of 30 cm max., cats and similar tame, small animals that are carried in bags, baskets or other suitable containers are treated as hand luggage and ride free of charge. If animals are taken out of their containers during the journey, the appropriate price for second-class travel must be paid for each animal.
Passengers may bring bicycles onto public transport provided there is sufficient space. For all transport companies this also means that bicycle transport is normally available only outside rush-hour and other busy times and then only if enough space is available. Holders of a Generalabonnement (GA), Half-Fare (Halbtax) or a U-Abo may pay for bike transport at the reduced 2nd Class fare for the respective price bracket. Other users must pay the full 2nd Class price.
The Mobility-Ticket issued by hotels in Basel-Stadt is valid in TNW zones 10, 11, 13 and 15. Mobility-Tickets issued by hotels in Basel-Land are valid for the entire TNW area. Some hotels issue a reservation confirmation which includes a "Mobility-Ticket" confirmation, enabling free-of-charge transfers between the hotel and the airport.
The Basel City ticket, which can be obtained from rail stations outside the TNW area, is only valid in the following areas: TNW zone 10 in Basel, Riehen, Bettingen, Allschwil, Binningen, Bottmingen, Schönenbuch, Münchenstein, Muttenz and Birsfelden.
The «Gleis 7» ticket issued by SBB, the Swiss Railway, is only valid on SBB lines within the TNW network.
